I hope everyone enjoyed their nice long weekend.  I did!  I am definitely ready to get back to work though!  We are getting back on track this week!
Progress Reports are supposed to go home this Friday.  I don’t feel comfortable sending them home this week sue to the lost days and crazy schedule.
I will be sending home the first grades’ Progress Reports next Tuesday with the Roche Review.  Please keep an eye out for them.  They need to be signed and returned to school.

Guest Reader notes went home yesterday.  Take your time getting these back to me.   I just wanted to give you lots of time, if needed.

Upcoming Dates

·
Mother’s Day Tea—Invitations are going out in the mail today!  The Tea is scheduled for March 5th.  If you are unable to attend, please invite someone special to the event (grandma, aunt, big sister, older cousin, etc.).  I will arrange for someone to sit with your child if nobody can attend, I just need to know ahead of time.
· St. Mary’s Open House—March 13th is the St. Mary’s Open House.  Please invite your friends with school aged children.  We would love to introduce them to our wonderful school.

 This Week

Reading—This week we are a reading the fable The Fox and the Stork.  We will be talking about the morals found in fables.  I will also be sending home a book for your child to be reading every night.  The first time t hey read it they may need some assistance.  After that they should be able to read it independently to you, a sibling, stuffed animal, imaginary friend, etc!
Writing
—We are working on a project for the Mother’s Day Tea.  They are also continuing to write in their journals.
Math
—We are comparing and ordering numbers (>,<, =).  This is usually a pretty simple concept for them to grasp.  They may need a little practice.
Phonics/Word Work
—This week and next week we are finishing up our unit on short vowels.  We will begin long vowels at the end of next week.  The vowels are definitely difficult for them to grasp.  Any extra help you can give them will help.
Religion—We are learning about Jesus and his Apostles.

 Have a great week!
