Teacher Appreciation Week
Words can not express the over whelming feeling of love that Mrs. Sheri and I received from parents, boosters and students during Teacher Appreciation Week. You generosity, cards, gifts, hugs and time spent volunteering has been beyond appreciated. Thank you for sharing your child with us and recognizing our busy yet rewarding days. J End of the year picnic Our sign up sheet is out and ready to be filled. If you are unable to come in to sign, no problem just email me the dish you would like to bring and I will write it for you. Our picnic begins at 10:00 June 1st. We will have a short playtime on the playground, eat together and then the kids will be performing a couple of songs and will receive their preschool diploma’s. This should last until about 11:15 or so. I know it is in the middle of the day and most of us are working, so I am trying to keep it from taking too much of the day. J Reminder the last day of preschool class will be Thursday May 31st. Class Projects In the last few news letters we had asked if your child could bring in an old dark colored sock. We have received around 4 of them. I have been holding off on that project to see if we receive a few more to make our grass people out of them. Also, please remember to have your child bring in a cut out piece of environmental print so we can add it to our board. For more information see website. This Week Rhyming games and activities were a BIG HIT! We have had so much fun with these. We have also been working on our special mothers day projects hopefully the children have been able to keep the “big secret.” This week we also read the book A Heart for Jesus by Juanita Bynum. The children really enjoyed this and it would make a great book to add to your library at home. After reading they all decided to have prayer and we discussed some things that can make us sad or afraid and how to use God to help us through. Next Week It’s Author week. We will be reading books from Dr. Suess and Mercer Meyer. We will be eating green eggs and ham and painting with our feet. (always fun) Also these last few weeks we will be reviewing a lot of the skills we have learned this year. Letter sounds, number recognition, name writing, position words, sequencing, rhyming and also safety. (fire, emergency, learning our phone numbers etc) I am also creating a survey for you to fill out with any suggestions/comments about your child’s first year at school. You will be receiving this soon. LAST WEEKS NEWSLETTER VOLUNTEERS During teacher appreciation next week the ever so gracious parents are putting on a lunch for us teachers from 11:00-12:30 on Wednesday May 9th. During this time my students will be at lunch and will be watching a movie with the lower grades and parent volunteers. I was hoping to at least have 1 or 2 preschool parents who were able to come up during that time just to kind of sit with them to make it more comfortable for them having someone they know. If you are able to come let me know. Thank you for all that you do. J This week We have been learning all about the weather and the ‘life’ of a rain drop. WE learned about evaporation and have been measuring a special cup each day to see if any water has disappeared. Also we learned an important bible story about Noah’s Ark. And the lesson behind it. Each child should remember why God gave us a rainbow after a storm. We also have been working on our cutting skills and writing letters. Next week Next week we will be learning about “things in the sky” the sun, moon, stars, planets and clouds. We will be watching a movie from the magic school bus and taking a trip down to the bogo free book fair. Also we will be wrapping up our number writing and working on Rhyming and Poems. Environmental print is a fun way to start learning to read. Please have your child cut out and bring in one piece of print that she can read. For example, Lucky Charms from the cereal bow, Kmart from an ad or People from the front of a magazine. We will be making a poster with these items for all of us to read together. Book Orders Thank you to all who were able to make a book order this school year. I have added up all of my points and were able to get about $50.00 in free books for our classroom. GO PARENTS!!! I will be putting out the sign up sheet for our picnic on Monday. J This and all information in my newsletters is always posted on our website www.saintmaryscatholic.com Leap Day: On Thursday May 24th we will be having a special “Leap Day” This will be were all students will be ‘leaping into the next grade from 9:00am- 10:00am.
