Dear 3rd Grade:

What a beautiful day to end the week with! I hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter and enjoys time reflecting on the resurrection of our Savior.

In Math, we have been working on another chapter on multiplication. Please make sure that your child continues to practice their basic multiplication facts. They have been taking timed multiplication tests twice a week. They should be practicing their facts at least 5-10 minutes a day. We will continue working on this chapter through next week.

In Reading, they have read through chapter 10 in Abby Takes a Stand. We will be finishing their book up next week. They have been busy working in their literature circles and writing in their reading response journals. Once we have completed the book, they will be assigned their final project for this book.

In Writer’s Workshop, they have been working on another rough story draft but are now concentrating on good beginnings, good endings, writing good complete sentences, and staying on topic. We also have been working on adjectives and how they help make our writing more interesting. They will be completing their draft next week and hopefully editing/revising and writing their final draft.

In Religion, the students have been reviewing for a quiz on Holy Week which will be on Tuesday, April 22nd. They have been watching a movie about the Pascal mystery. Please make sure they are reviewing for their quiz over the weekend. They also received their worship bulletin which is due on Tuesday. (Mrs. Patterson)

In Michigan History, they took their test over chapter 6 on Wednesday. I will correct these over the weekend and return them once everyone has completed the test.

In Science, we started our section on the forest habitat. On Tuesday, we will be looking at the different plants and animals that live in this habitat. They will be working on a study guide over this section on Wednesday and will have a test over this section the week of April 28th.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you on Tuesday.

Mrs. Kovel
