Dear 4th Grade Parents:

It has been a blessing to have had such beautiful weather this week! It looks as if spring has finally arrived.

In Math, the students have been busy working on larger division problems. We will be finishing up this chapter next week and they will be reviewing for their test which will be on Monday, May 20th. Please make sure that they continue to practice their basic multiplication facts as we are doing timed tests three times a week.

In Reading, we read a story from our reading book called, “Children of Clay.” They took their test over this story today and I will correct them over the weekend and return them on Monday. Next week, they will be reading another story from their reading book so they will be having a quiz on Friday.

In English, we worked on adjectives mainly on articles: “a”, “an”, and “the.” We also learned about proper adjectives. Next week, we will continue working on adjectives learning about adjectives that tell how many and about how many.

In Religion, they finished the 2nd and 3rd Beatitudes. They took a quiz over these this past Tuesday. The students started watching “The Ten Commandments.” The students also spent special time with Jesus in Adoration and Benediction. They received their weekly worship bulletin which is due on Monday. (Mrs. Patterson)

In History, we continue reading about people working together in a community. We read about the Amish people and how they work together within their special community. They also learned about the different types of services that go into making a product. We will continue working on this unit through next week. REMINDER: Their “Culture Day Project” is due next Friday. They need to bring in their report, poster, and food on Friday, May 17th.

In Science, we finished our first section on weather. They will be having a test on Tuesday so please make sure that they are studying their study guide over the weekend. We will begin our next section on weather on Wednesday.

I want to thank all of the students and parents who helped to make this such a special “Teacher's Week.” It is so amazing how wonderful everything was this week! This is what makes our school so special! THANK YOU!

REMINDER: May Crowning is next Tuesday, May 14th.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend and I will see you on Monday.

Mrs. Kovel
