Tomorrow or Monday a hard copy of our Catholic Schools Week plan will be sent home with your child/ren. I am also trying to attach it to this email. The theme for this year is "Faith. Academics. Service." which I think truly summarizes St. Mary Catholic School. You will see that the weekend before and after Catholic Schools Week, we are hoping parents will volunteer to speak for one or two minutes following mass at local parishes. Those parishes inlcude St. Mary's, Sacred Heart in Birch Run, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Francis Xavier in Otisville, and Holy Redeemer. St. Charles and Helena said it would be fine if parents were present to pass out copies of our newsletter, and they would promote the school in their announcements. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to promote our school and Catholic education in our community, while also obtaining parent involvement hours. I will compose a general guide for you to speak from. You are of course free to personalize it, but don't feel that you will be asked to speak off the cuff. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email me or call the school office and we will get you signed up. I think it is so important to build relationships with neighboring parishes that do not have their own school. Many parents may be considering Catholic education, but need a simple invitation to come visit our school.
Speaking of... we had a wonderful visit today from Fr. Reyna, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He joined us for Morning Prayer and visited each classroom, teaching the children a beautiful prayer:
"Infant Jesus,
Baby brother,
Give us power,
in this hour. Amen."
Maybe you will get this email early enough to say this little prayer with your family at bedtime.
